If I ran for public office, these would be my top issues:
1. Health care. It needs to be about health care, not money. More people die from heart disease and cancer in the U.S. than anything else. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm
There are 610,000 American deaths per year due to heart disease.
2. A general campaign to improve highway safety and driving habits. There are over 30,000 U.S. highway deaths every year. Compare that to less than 50 terrorist deaths to Americans per year (except 2001, when 3,003 died).
People seem to worry more about terrorist threats than what is really killing Americans: Auto deaths, heart disease, cancer and respiratory diseases.
3. Our aging infrastructure. Need to upgrade and modernize buildings and highways that have fallen into disrepair.
4. Ethics in government. Parties need to work together, not against each other. A lot of problems could be solved if the amount of effort in attacking each other was put into brainstorming how to fix things.
Those would be my top 4 campaign issues. Now, what would I ever run for?
